Privacy & Data Protection
Donation, refund, and privacy guidance for donors, visitors, volunteers, and partners.
Use the sections below to understand how we handle donations, genuine refund requests, and personal information.
Unless a payment is expressly described as payment for a specific product, event, or service, contributions made through our donation channels are treated as voluntary charitable donations. A donation does not create an ownership interest in the Foundation or a right to direct its day-to-day operations.
Donations may be accepted through payment channels displayed on our official website or otherwise communicated by the Foundation. Online payments may be processed by third-party payment providers, including Paystack. The payment provider may apply its own terms, security checks, processing rules, and settlement procedures.
General donations may be applied where the Foundation determines the need is greatest, in line with its charitable objectives and approved programmes. Campaign- or project-specific donations will be applied toward the stated purpose as far as reasonably practicable.
If a restricted purpose is completed, becomes impracticable, or can no longer be carried out as intended, the Foundation may contact donors where appropriate or redirect remaining funds to a closely related charitable purpose, subject to applicable law and governance approval.
Where sufficient contact information is provided, we may send a payment acknowledgement or donation receipt. Donors are responsible for ensuring that names, email addresses, and other details entered during payment are accurate.
We do not sell donor personal information. Donor information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy on this page and may be shared only where necessary to process donations, meet legal obligations, prevent fraud, or operate the Foundation lawfully. Please donate only through payment channels published on our official website or otherwise verified by the Foundation.
Charitable donations are generally treated as final once successfully processed. However, we may review a refund request where there is reasonable evidence of a duplicate donation, an incorrect amount entered by the donor, an unauthorised transaction, a technical/payment-processing error, or another circumstance where a refund is required by applicable law or considered appropriate by the Foundation.
Contact the Foundation as soon as reasonably possible through our official Contact page. Include the donor name, email address used for payment, donation amount, payment date, transaction/reference number, and a short explanation. We may request additional information needed to verify the transaction and protect donors from fraud.
If a refund is approved, it will ordinarily be returned through the original payment channel or payment method. We will not normally redirect a refund to an unrelated bank account, card, wallet, or third party. Processing time may depend on Paystack, the card network, the donor’s bank, or another payment provider involved.
Where a payment appears fraudulent, disputed, or subject to a chargeback, the Foundation may pause the refund review while the payment processor, financial institution, or relevant authority investigates. Transaction records may be provided where lawfully required for dispute resolution or fraud prevention.
A refund request may be declined where the donation was validly authorised and has already been committed or applied to the stated charitable purpose, except where applicable law requires otherwise. Submitting a request does not automatically guarantee a refund; each request is reviewed on its facts.
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect identity and contact information; donation and transaction information; volunteer, partnership, or enquiry information; technical and usage information such as IP address, browser/device data, pages visited, and cookie or analytics data; and programme-related information you voluntarily provide where it is needed for a Foundation programme. Online card payments may be handled directly by payment processors such as Paystack. We do not intentionally collect or store your full card number or card security code on the Foundation website.
We may use information to receive and account for donations; investigate refunds and payment disputes; respond to enquiries; communicate with donors, volunteers, partners, and stakeholders; administer programmes and events; protect our website and payment channels from fraud and security threats; maintain governance, audit, tax, and regulatory records; improve our website and communications; and send updates or fundraising communications where an appropriate lawful basis exists.
We process personal data only where there is an appropriate basis to do so, which may include consent, steps connected with a request or transaction, compliance with a legal obligation, protection of legitimate organisational interests, or another lawful basis recognised under applicable data-protection law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
We may share limited personal information with trusted service providers and other parties where reasonably necessary, including payment processors, banks, website or cloud-service providers, professional advisers, auditors, programme partners, and public authorities where disclosure is lawfully required. We do not sell personal information.
Some technology or payment services used by the Foundation may process or store information outside Nigeria. Where this occurs, we seek to use appropriate safeguards and service providers that can support lawful and secure handling of personal data.
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain appropriate financial and organisational records, resolve disputes, protect legal rights, or meet legal and regulatory obligations. Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information.
Our website may use necessary cookies and, where enabled, analytics or similar technologies to support functionality, security, performance, and visitor insights. Where required, users may be given choices about non-essential cookies through a cookie or consent banner.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information against accidental loss, unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or misuse. No internet-based system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so users should also take reasonable steps to protect their own devices and account information.
The Foundation may support programmes involving children and other vulnerable persons. We seek to apply appropriate safeguarding and privacy measures when collecting information connected with such programmes. The public website is not intended to encourage a child to submit sensitive personal information without appropriate parent, guardian, or authorised adult involvement where required.
Subject to applicable law and relevant exceptions, you may have rights to request access to personal data we hold about you, request correction, request deletion in appropriate circumstances, object to or request restriction of certain processing, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and exercise other rights available under applicable data-protection law. You may also raise a concern with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission where applicable.
Our website may contain links to third-party websites, social-media platforms, or payment services whose privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, payment processes, legal requirements, or privacy practices.
Effective date: 15 September 2026. For questions about donations, refunds, or privacy, please use the official Contact page on silvafaithsupportfoundation.com. Please do not send full card details, card security codes, passwords, or other highly sensitive authentication information by email or contact form.
These policies should be reviewed whenever the Foundation adds a new payment provider, recurring donations, new beneficiary forms, newsletters, or other services that change how personal or payment information is handled.
